The Iraqi Kiddush cup design is inspired by the traditional Iraqi Kiddush cups, which have a cover. Some traditional cups have a bird on the top (see photo), and others have a Magen David. The Kiddush cup with the red cloth was created for the Judaica Now: Goblets and Kiddush Cups of the Bezalel School exhibition held in Rishon L’Zion, 2016.
The original Iraqi Kiddush Cup which has been in my family for 3 generations is the cup with the bird on top (these two items are not for sale).
